in japanese aikuchi means a katana without tsuba. which means it is not intended for battle but an object of beauty and for some a charm.

made in tohoku…

our really good friends, the incredibly inspiring guys from the inoue brothers made this cool ass video… the tohoku region of Japan was devastated after the earthquake and tsunami 3 years ago. the video introduces us to a few of the regions brilliant artisans. seriously check it out

and remember – style can´t be mass-produced

Terada Mokei

Japanese design is a lot of things.

A company like terada mokei is just classic Japaneseness. Small paper figures to cut out

dogesa – appologizing on hands & knees while bowing your head to the floor. Very Japanese ;)

There are many different figures to cut out and to create your own universe.

Even fairytales!
